Robot Shipping Your Amazon Orders

Amazon logos that shows a smile shape but is actually pointing A to Z means they are sell everything.

As we know that Amazon has been established long time ago by selling books only. But now in the 2015 we can find and purchase a lot of stuff including apparels, home appliances, jewelry and many more. Amazon is like one of the shopping complex in the internet that make people go for a shopping only by seating on their chair, click one button and the stuff will be arrive to her immediately. Thus, I wondering how Amazon could cater all order around the world. As I do some research through google I found out that other than they use manpower they also use a Robots which is made by KIVA SYSTEM.  This Robots has been purchase by Amazon about $775 million in 2012 for them to cater and handle worldwide order every second as well as they can better handle all the shelves. The Robots can carry the shelves that contains the goods out of storage and bring them to the employee
The Robots made by Kiva System
Millions of shelves contain goods that will be carry by the Robot
All the Robot are working a long the highway without bump into each other
The floor are design with pattern to make the Robot can control by system
The Robot will bring the shelves to the employee and the employee will pack the goods for delivery to the customer

This existing of Kiva Robots will eliminate the "not fun picking up stuff" because Amazon has a lot of good being sell so is not easy for the employee to find the goods in split second. It make the employee work more easier and Amazon could cater a lot of order in one day.

Empty shelves will be brought by the Robots to the back of the store and the Robots will go and charged itself and other shelves will be carried out by other Robots.

How does full body scanner works in airports

I always wondering how the body scanner works in the airport. How they can scan our body in the split second.
Thus this is the explanation after I google it.
Backscatter X-ray scanners and millimeter wave scanners are full body scanners used in the screening area of airports across the world. They functioning by sending low-level waves or rays towards your body and will be detecting the waves which scatter or bounce off the surface of your body as well as any object next to it. The machine will create the image and reveal any objects carrying under clothes such as liquid explosive, weapons and drugs.

Millimeter wave scanners use low-level radio frequencies (RF) to image subjects. This insures that absolutely no radiation dose is given to the person being screened: the energy that is directed towards the subject is not sufficient to damage cells, DNA, or other atoms in the body.Millimeter wave scanners produce a 3D image of the subject, contrary to Backscatter X-rays, which only produce a 2D image.

Backscatter X-ray machines use x-rays to give security personnel an image of the exterior of a passenger’s entire body. These scanners are similar to medical x-ray machines except that they operate at a much lower energy. This means that the radiation dose a person would receive from a backscatter x-ray scan would be much lower than the dose received from a medical x-ray. Another difference is that in medicine, the radiation that passes through your body is used to create the picture. Backscatter technology uses the x-rays that scatter (or “bounce”) off the surface of your body, as well as any objects next to it, to create the image.

On the machines, the person’s body reads as white and all external items read as black. Here’s what it looks like when the scanner detects someone attempting to smuggle a handgun tucked into the front of his pants

Easily Track Classroom Attendance with AccuClass!

AccuClass is web-based software hosted in the Amazon cloud.

The function of this AccuClass software is to automatically collect the attendance information and get the reports you need on attendance, absenteeism (whether excused or not), lateness, and tardiness.

This AccuClass just need a web browser and it is easy because no need to install any CDs, database, web server configuration, storage space allocation, etc. Not need to buy expensive web servers, Windows server licenses, SQL Server licenses, and other software needed to run the system. Just create an account in a short time period and can be log in anytime, anywhere.

The collected attendance data is uploaded to the AccuClass server in the clould via a standard Wi-Fi connection or via cell phone data network.  Once the attendance data is uploaded, you can view the attendance reports via your online AccuClass account.

With AccuClass students and staff sign in and out by entering their ID numbers on the computer. Users can type their ID numbers on the keyboard or they can simply slide their ID card in the ID reader. Using an ID reader speeds up the sign-in and sign-out process by eliminating the need to manually type the numbers. ID entry with the ID reader is also more accurate as it eliminates typing errors.

There are several ways for recording attendance with the AccuClass application.
  • Call the roll.  The app will display a list of your students and will allow you to set the attendance status for each.  For faster recording, use the "set all" button to set all students as "Present", call each name, and if the student is not present, then touch the name to change the status to "Absent". Other attendance status options are available (e.g. "Tardy"), and you can even add your own. The latest version of the AccuClass app also allows you to see the photo of each student.  This will help you know each student's name and recognize absent students.
  • Scan a barcode. The app allows you to sign students in or out by simply reading barcodes with the Apple device camera! This gives you a quick way to sign students in and out. QR barcodes recommended for best performance.
  • Swipe an ID Card. The also supports swiping ID cards with a magnetic strip with a reader that attaches to the Apple device.  When students arrive to class, they simply swipe their student ID card in the optional magnetic strip reader. If the student does not have an ID card, you can key in their ID number instead.

Several application or devices can be used for the attendance tracking with AccuClass.
  • Use a computer or a laptop (PC or Mac) in the classroom to call the roll. Manually mark absent and late students.
  • Use the RFID Technology and simply have the students pass their RFID key fob over the RFID reader to record their attendance.
  • Use a computer in the classroom as a sign-in station and have students sign in by swiping their student ID card in a magnetic strip reader or use a barcode reader.  Students can also type their ID number on the keyboard.
  • Use one or more time clocks mounted on the wall near the classroom entrance to capture the attendance.
  • Use an Apple device (iPad, iPad mini, iPod touch, or iPhone) to call the roll.
  • Use an Apple device (iPad, iPad mini, iPod touch, or iPhone) and sign the students in by reading a QR barcode or swiping an ID card with a magnetic strip.
ACCUCLASS - CLASS ATTENDANCE TRACKING APP FOR THE APPLE DEVICE

The AccuClass app will transform your Apple iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into a portable class attendance tracking device. You can use the app to call the roll, or use the built-in camera to read barcodes and sign the students in. The app also supports a magnetic card reader, so if you prefer students can swipe their ID cards to record their attendance.

The app collects the class attendance data and uploads it to the AccuClass software in the cloud where you can quickly and conveniently monitor and report on the class attendance data.  The data is uploaded via a standard WiFi connection or cellular data plan.  With this capability, you will view and analyze your attendance data in real time without ever connecting a single cable.

Korea Transportation Card (T-money)

What is T-money

T-money is a transportation card as well as a device used to pay for taxi fares as well as transactions at convenience stores. The T-money function is often added onto various payment (credit/debit) and discount travel cards. It can be used on public buses and subways in several different metropolitan cities and locations including Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Daejeon, Incheon, Daegu and Busan.

T-money can be used when transferring from one bus to another, one subway line to another, or from bus to subway or vice versa (within a transfer time limit) at no extra charge. Also, T-money does away with the hassle of purchasing single journey subway tickets. When you are finished using your T-money card, the remaining balance can be refunded after a 500 won service charge.

How to use T-money

1. Bus
  • Upon boarding the bus, place your T-money card on the sensor bearing the T-money logo located at the front of the bus until it beeps. The sensor will display the amount charged on the top and the remaining balance at the bottom.
  • Before getting off the bus, place the T-money card on the sensor located at the back of the bus until it beeps. It will display any additional charges, which are levied by distance traveled, and can now be used for free transfers within a specific time limit.

2. Subway
  • Place your T-money card on the sensor bearing the T-money logo located on top of each of the subway turnstiles until it beeps. The sensor will display the amount charged on the top and the remaining balance at the bottom. If you are transferring, the amount charge may appear as “0” (zero).
  • Place the T-money card on the sensor until it beeps when exiting through the turnstiles. It will display any additional charges, which are levied by distance traveled, and can now be used for free transfers within a specific time limit.

3. Taxi
  • These days, many taxis accept payment via T-money card. In general, the payment terminal is affixed between the driver’s seat and the passenger seat. Inform the taxi driver that you want to pay with a T-money card, tap your card on the terminal, and your taxi fare will be automatically paid from your T-money card’s balance. However, if the fare is more than your T-money balance, your full T-money balance will be deducted from the taxi fare and you will have to pay the remaining fare via different means.

4. Transfer Discounts
  • Transfer discounts are applied on bus/subway fares only when using T-money. For instance, when transferring while traveling within a 10km distance, if you use T-money, the transfer is free. This is a much better deal than using cash, as you would have to pay the basic fare each time you transfer.

T-money vendors or ticket vending

The T-money card is rechargeable at any of the T-money vendors or ticket vending and card reload devices inside subway stations.
Recharging T-money Cards Recharging T-money Cards

1. Select your preferred language (Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese).
2. Touch the “T-money Card” box on the right side of the screen.
3. Place your T-money card on the recharging pad.
4. Select the amount of money you wish to recharge.
5. Pay the total recharge amount.
6. Wait briefly while the device recharges your T-money card. Once the card is recharged, confirm its balance.

How To Receive T-money Refund

For a remaining T-money balance of 20,000 won or less, you may receive a refund following a 500 won service fee at a partner convenience store (GS 25, CU, 7-Eleven,  Mini Stop, With Me, Buy The Way) bearing the T-money logo.
If the remaining balance exceeds 20,000 won, you may receive a refund at the T-money Headquarters (1F of Korea Smart Card Corporation Ltd.*), therefore it is recommended for you to recharge only as much as you will need.
T-money cards are not returnable, however they make good souvenirs to remember a trip to Korea. For more information, please visit the official T-money website and click “Foreigner Registration.”

M-Pass Card

Metropolitan Pass or M-Pass is a transportation card that offers 20 rides a day for the duration of the pass in the Seoul Metropolitan City area and Jeju.

M-Passes come in five different types: 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 5-day and 7-day passes. They are valid for the designated time period, and expire at midnight on the last day of validity.
As M-Pass has the T-money function, it can be used on buses, taxis, and at select convenience stores as long as there is a usable T-money balance. Once you have used all of the M-pass’ allotted subway rides, it can still be used as a T-money card after adding to the balance.

Automatic Parking System

WPS Parking Systems

WPS is an acronym to Wöhr Parking Systems that provides customers with the world’s most innovative automated parking technology.

Wöhr has been one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of parking technology for more than 40 years.

The idea of the automatic parking system is due to the rapid growth in urban areas for the recent years. It means that many cars were produce but parking facility were beyond the demand. Many areas are faced with the challenge of balancing the desire to maintain open space with the need to provide a parking facility that can accommodate the urban growth. An automated parking facility provides an environmentally friendly solution to this issue.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Automated parking systems make use of computers, sensors, cameras and mechanical components to take the car, move it throughout the garage and park it in an empty slot.
  • The process is very simple and it requires little effort from the driver. There are two types of automated parking systems, depending on the manner in which they transport the car from entry to the parking spot: horizontal platforms or vertical lifts.
  • In both cases, the process is very similar, with the only thing that differs being the movement of the car until it reaches the desired space (lateral or vertical).
  • In both types of systems, the car is driven into the multi-storied garage as usual. Once positioned on the ramp, the driver shuts down the engine, secures the parking brake and steps out of the car. While the driver does all this, sensors analyze the vehicle to determine it's size and overall shape.
  • Once the driver has exited the building, the mechanical arms of the living building are set in motion. Depending on the available empty spots in the garage, the system determines where to take the car.
  • Using various electro-mechanical components, the car is moved into the respective spot, either vertically or horizontally. For the fastest such systems, the whole process can take as little as two and a half minutes from entry to parking the car in its spot. Most such systems are fitted with turntables, which means that when leaving, there is no need for the driver to drive in reverse.
  • Now, if you are wondering how the system recognizes which car is yours, you should know it does no guess work. Automated parking systems give you a card or key containing a code which identifies the position of the vehicle. Once you scan your card or key, the system finds the car and sets in motion it's mechanical arms to bring the car back to you.
For more information watch on this video. Enjoy.

Malaysia should consider the idea of the automatic parking since we have excessive car on the road and the parking facilities is not equivalent to the number of cars.

Thank you for reading :)
